Alcami to Acquire Contract Packaging Organization Tjoapack

Alcami Corporation recently announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Tjoapack, a leading global contract packaging organization with facilities in the United States and The Netherlands. This acquisition signifies Alcami’s strategic move to enhance its operational footprint in Europe, marking a pivotal step in its growth trajectory.

Tjoapack has been a trusted supplier of contract primary and secondary packaging solutions for over 35 years, offering a range of services including oral solid dose packaging, sterile injectables, and kitting. With operations in Clinton, Tennessee, and Etten-Leur, The Netherlands, Tjoapack boasts 23 packaging lines and a workforce of over 400 skilled personnel, serving more than 40 commercial markets globally.

Patrick Walsh, Chairman and CEO of Alcami, stated, “This acquisition marks our first European expansion which is an essential element of our investment strategy to expand our presence in the global market.” The integration of Tjoapack will not only provide U.S. supply chain redundancy but also enhance Alcami’s capabilities in Qualified Person (QP) release services in Europe. This strategic alignment is expected to streamline operations for clients, allowing them to leverage Alcami’s comprehensive suite of services, including pharmaceutical testing labs and GMP pharma storage.

Dexter Tjoa, CEO of Tjoapack, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting that it will accelerate growth ambitions while maintaining a commitment to quality and customer focus. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is anticipated to finalize in the second quarter of this year, setting the stage for a more integrated transatlantic platform in pharmaceutical services.

Alcami Corporation, headquartered in North Carolina, has over 45 years of experience in advancing pharmaceuticals and biologics from development to delivery, while Tjoapack has established itself as a key player in regulated pharmaceutical packaging since its founding in 1989.
