This innovative platform is designed to minimize batch-to-batch variability and improve vector quality, thereby offering a more reliable long-term production strategy. According to a spokesperson from VIVEbiotech, the platform simplifies the manufacturing workflow by requiring only the addition of a developer’s transgenic element to the fully characterized monoclonal producer cell line (PCL), eliminating the need for transfection and reducing dependency on plasmid and transfection reagent supply chains.
Andrés Lamsfus-Calle, PhD, product development manager at VIVEbiotech, emphasized that the characterized and inducible monoclonal PCL mitigates risks associated with SCL generation by incorporating the therapeutic transgene directly, which traditionally would require transfection with helper plasmids. This advancement allows VIVEbiotech to produce a prototype cell line within a mere three months, significantly accelerating the development timeline for gene therapies.
The company asserts that EvoLVcell not only reduces variability and impurities—critical factors in gene therapeutics—but also enables rapid yield assessment through a swift proof-of-concept process. This allows developers to reach a decisive go/no-go inflection point in just three months. Lamsfus-Calle noted that achieving cost efficiency and high reproducibility is vital for scalable LVV production, ultimately enhancing patient access to innovative therapies.
