SPT Labtech and 10x Genomics have entered a strategic partnership aimed at automating workflows for single cell research. This collaboration will enable scientists to enhance their experimental capabilities on 10x’s Chromium Single Cell platform, with future plans for integration into the Visium Spatial platform. By leveraging plug-and-play protocols on SPT Labtech’s firefly® liquid handling platform, researchers can expect streamlined processes that facilitate scalability in their experiments.
The integration of optimized, ready-to-run methods developed by both companies is set to improve reproducibility and efficiency in single cell assay workflows. This partnership builds upon 10x’s recent acquisition of Scale Biosciences, which already had a collaborative relationship with SPT Labtech. Morten Frost, CCO at SPT Labtech, emphasized that this expanded collaboration will provide firefly users with comprehensive access to 10x’s suite of single cell and spatial solutions, addressing the specific needs of researchers in this evolving field.
Showcased at the ASHG conference in Boston, the partnership highlighted data from customer labs demonstrating the advantages of automated liquid handling in single-cell library preparation. Both companies are committed to empowering researchers; Brooke Murphy, VP of strategic marketing at 10x Genomics, noted that this collaboration will facilitate seamless automation, combining firefly’s flexibility with the robustness of GEM-X chemistry. This initiative not only accelerates genomic research but also aims to drive breakthroughs in human health.
