Plasmidsaurus Launches Ultrafast RNA-Seq Service

Plasmidsaurus has officially launched a new RNA-Seq service tailored for Illumina short read applications, applying their established plasmid sequencing methodology to gene expression analysis. This service was highlighted at the ASHG annual conference in Boston, where attendees had the opportunity to engage with Plasmidsaurus scientists and preview the new intuitive RNA-Seq analytics tools, as shared by co-founder and CEO Mark Budde.

Budde emphasized the efficiency of their service, stating, “Getting good transcriptomics data shouldn’t take weeks of hassle. Send us cells and we’ll get you answers.” The RNA-Seq service promises rapid RNA expression profiling, with capabilities to convert crude cell preparations into fully analyzed data in as little as three days. Additionally, cultured cells can be submitted at room temperature via a network of drop-boxes, eliminating the need for a bioinformatician as users can independently explore their gene expression results.

Industry professionals, such as Molly Gasperini from the Allen Institute, have praised the service for its speed and affordability. Co-founder and CTO Jim Stapleton noted that this advancement is particularly beneficial for pharmaceutical and biotech companies in need of quick feedback on drug candidates, as well as for validating cell line identity and health. This launch follows Plasmidsaurus’s recent expansions into microbiome sequencing and AAV genome sequencing, further solidifying their commitment to accelerating research in genomics and biotechnology.
