Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the Invitrogen™ iGlow™ Gel Documentation System, a compact imaging platform for analyzing protein and nucleic acid gels. This one-touch system combines DNA, RNA, and protein gel imaging capabilities in a single instrument, allowing researchers to evaluate sample quality before proceeding with downstream experiments.
The iGlow system features UV, blue, and white LED illumination to meet various gel imaging needs. It supports both precast Invitrogen E-Gels™ and traditional pour-your-own gels, with applications in PCR, gene expression analysis, cloning, protein expression, and purification. Automated features like one-touch capture and auto-exposure aim to simplify image acquisition.
Designed for labs with limited bench space, the iGlow platform offers a dedicated solution for routine gel imaging, potentially freeing up larger imaging systems for specialized research. This launch may enhance workflow efficiency for laboratories conducting frequent quality assessments of samples.
