Vetter, a prominent Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), has commenced construction on a new production site in Saarlouis, Germany, as marked by a groundbreaking ceremony. The initial phase will focus on establishing a cutting-edge facility dedicated to the commercial production of injectable drugs across a 95-acre industrial site. With an investment nearing half a billion euros slated for completion by 2031, Vetter is reinforcing its leadership in quality and technological innovation. This facility is projected to create between 400 to 500 jobs initially, with potential growth to 1,500 and ultimately up to 2,000 jobs as the site expands.
In this first phase, Vetter plans to construct a 50,000 square meter manufacturing site, which will include production-related facilities such as laboratories and warehouses. The facility will feature three advanced cleanrooms designed for the aseptic production of complex drug products, specifically for filling pre-sterilized syringes and vials. This strategic expansion aligns with Vetter’s commitment to meet the rising demand for sophisticated pharmaceutical solutions.
Senator h.c. Udo J. Vetter emphasized that this milestone is pivotal for the family-owned business, setting a foundation for sustainable growth and enhanced manufacturing capacities. Local government officials echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential for economic revitalization in the Saarland region. With over 75 years of experience, Vetter’s investment not only strengthens its production capabilities but also underscores its dedication to sustainable practices and the provision of high-quality services to global pharmaceutical partners.
