BioLife Products Limited plans to present its oral peptide delivery technology and latest intellectual property developments at London Life Sciences Week, aiming to advance an alternative approach to administering peptide-based medicines. The platform addresses a key challenge in oral peptide administration: protecting sensitive molecules from degradation in the gastrointestinal tract while enabling their absorption into systemic circulation. It features a dissolvable effervescent tablet that forms a buffered solution to protect peptide therapeutics during digestion.
Preclinical studies have shown measurable systemic exposure to semaglutide following oral administration, indicating in vivo proof of concept. BioLife is also leveraging earlier human clinical research on oral insulin formulations to evaluate the platform’s potential for other peptide medicines. The platform is supported by granted patents in the United States and France, with further international filings underway, extending patent protection through 2042. The technology remains under development and is not approved for any disease treatment.
