Samsung Biologics has announced a significant $262 million manufacturing agreement with an undisclosed European pharmaceutical firm, solidifying its position in the global biomanufacturing landscape. This contract entails extensive manufacturing commitments at Samsung’s Songdo facility in South Korea, extending through 2033.
The recent deal boosts Samsung Biologics’ cumulative contract value to over $21.9 billion, reflecting the company’s robust growth trajectory. Currently, Samsung operates 845 kL of manufacturing capacity across its facilities in Korea and the U.S., including 785 kL in Songdo and 60 kL in Rockville, Maryland. The Rockville site, acquired in March 2026, marked Samsung’s inaugural manufacturing footprint in the U.S., enhancing its global operational capabilities.
In addition to expanding its manufacturing capacity, Samsung Biologics is laying the groundwork for Bio Campus III, aimed at advancing R&D and manufacturing for next-generation therapeutics. The company is also actively pursuing an acquisition of PolyPeptide Group, which would broaden its portfolio into peptide-based therapeutics and diversify its manufacturing capabilities, contingent upon successful transaction completion. This strategic move underscores Samsung’s commitment to meeting evolving market demands and client needs in an increasingly competitive landscape.
